William Bowman 34 and Orville Childers 42 of Sidney lost appeals for clemency in the 1937 murder during a burglary of William F. Moore. Both said they had fair trials. Ralph Theodore Hill died of a heart attack at age 57, found near the Union Pacific tracks east of Kimball. He had lived in Sidney, worked 30 years for the railroad, and retired two years ago due to ill health. Survived by wife Neva and three daughters, funeral held at Trinity Methodist church with burial in Kimball cemetery.

Emergency measures to obtain feed for stricken stock over the past two weeks are easing as local dealers report adequate hay alfalfa and straw supplies. County Agent W P Bullock and Senator Ray Babcock organized aid, securing hay from Oklahoma and Colorado and straw from Central Fibre Paper Company in Quincy with distribution limited to county stockmen. Six cars of hay arrived Monday and five cars the previous Saturday. imports will stop when local supply reaches about $30 per prairie hay, with a $1 per ton carrying charge to cover communication costs. Banks, the Union Pacific, and farmers cooperated, and an itemized expense report will be issued after the rush ends.
