Young Waugh in Custody for Assault on Restaurant Proprietor
Deputy Sheriff Sager captured Cyrus E. Waugh in Bridgeport after he assaulted Mies Hedrig Leiditz, owner of a restaurant and rooming house. Waugh, previously a ditch worker, fled to Denver, then returned drunk and attacked Leiditz. He pleaded guilty at a preliminary hearing before Judge Tucker and was held on $3,000 bond.

Death by self to Sergeant-Major James Connelly at Fort Logan
Sad news from Sidney reports Sergeant-Major James Connelly of the 21st Infantry died by his own hand at Fort Logan Colorado. He had served with the 21st Infantry at Fort Sidney in the 1890s and was the brother of Mrs. D J Scanlon of Sidney. His brother John of Brady Island Neb was visiting Sidney and learned of the tragedy while en route to Fort Logan. Connelly, aged forty, unmarried and quiet, may have suffered a temporary mental disturbance at the time of the act.
