Fatal Ranchman Shooting Near Dix
John Bowers shot W. D. Stratton during a quarrel three miles south of Dix on Wednesday. Bowers claimed self defense after Stratton sought to finish work on a house, Stratton died that evening. Sheriff Bartholomew and County Attorney Kinney arrested Bowers. coroner’s jury returned an accidental shooting verdict. Stratton, once a Sidney barber, had recent fights and a quarrelsome reputation.

Mrs Uhlman Dies in Warrensburg Mo
Lizzie Uhlman wife of Geo E Uhlman and sister of Eugene McEvoy and Mrs Hart of Sidney died at her Warrensburg home last Tuesday night. Born October 6 1865 in St Louis, she moved to Sidney as a child. She leaves a husband a daughter Bessie four sisters and a brother and many friends. Alonzo Shroyer of Jackson Center Ohio died Thursday morning after lung trouble. his remains were sent to Ohio with his brother E M Shroyer. Mrs F L VanGorder is a cousin of the deceased.
