Wayne C Whitney will speak on Nebraska's Wild Flowers and A L Nelson will discuss General Dryland Agriculture. Rites Held Thursday For Misegadis Baby
Funeral services were held for Edwin Ernest Misegadis infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Misegadis of Sunol. He died January 30 at a local hospital fifteen days after birth. Rites conducted at the Lutheran Church in Lodgepole by Rev. N. E. Schroeder. Burial in Lodgepole Cemetery, under The Craig Mortuary. Survived by parents and two sisters.

City Clerk Gordon Tobin reports Sidney’s January 1951 building requests totalled 152 900 with 34 800 for new residences 110 000 for commercial and 8 800 for remodeling. The January 1950 total was 32 700. A major boost comes from a 100 000 filing by N W Bell Telephone for a new addition.

The Ohio Oil Company plants near Sidney are advancing gas and oil operations. Its gasoline plant three miles north of Sidney strips liquids from Huntsman Field gas and nears full operation. The Sidney District office building, nearing completion, will house about 160 permanent employees. Ohio also invested a quarter million dollars in a pipeline gathering system to move oil from Cheyenne County wells to a central loading rack.

U P Derailment Ties Rail Traffic at Julesburg
Several cars of a Union Pacific freight train derailed at Julesburg on Saturday blocking rail traffic for about two hours. One derailed car carried diesel fuel that caught fire. Julesburg firefighters extinguished the blaze. A Sidney crew was called to help clear debris.

Nebraska farm index up 21 points above US level at 321-69 for January 15, led by cattle and calf price gains. Hogs rose to 19.70, the highest since 1949, while wheat 2.12, corn 1.43, oats and barley up 4 cents, sorghum over 2.00. Poultry and eggs fell, egg price dropping 12 cents per dozen.

Infant Sterett Dies After Birth Graveside Rites Held
Graveside rites were conducted at St. Pauls Lutheran Cemetery near Potter for the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Edwin Sterrett who died shortly after birth on Saturday. The Rev E W Bellmann led the service. The baby is survived by her parents and a sister.

Rites for Robert E. Dyke 70 will be at 2 PM Tuesday at Gehrig Dugan Funeral Home. Dyke died Saturday in a Denver hospital after surgery. He was born November 25, 1880 in Sidney Iowa and lived there until moving to Sidney 46 years ago. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Dogs deserted homes and hid, cats scratched doors trying to enter houses, while humans reported little panic though some window damage and flashes were seen.
