Rain making plans stir Western Nebraska hopes
The Keith County News letters reveal farmers in Cheyenne and Keith counties debating Melbourne the rain maker. Jones of Cheyenne Wyoming outlines contract terms and risks for Western Nebraska to secure rain for crops at ten cents per acre across about two million acres, with Melbourne demanding upfront payments. Nebraskan crop data and state rankings accompany the discussion, followed by a Cedar Creek social note of a January party with dancing, supper, and jovial mischief.
