Two Sidney Backing Accidents Cause Minor Vehicle Damage
Sidney police logged two vehicle mishaps involving backing trucks. On Monday Mrs. Charles Ham’s car damaged its hood after a backing Duane E. Kahl truck struck it near 11th Ave and Hickory St. The other incident on Tuesday at Worster's Iron and Metal Co saw Donald M. Laffer’s truck back into Clara Vorster’s car, denting the grill and front fender. No damage estimates were available.

Former Resident Dies at 87 in Kimball Rites Friday
Edward Arlington Seloner, 87, Cheyenne County resident, died Tuesday at Kimball County Hospital. Funeral services set for Friday at Trinity Methodist Church officiated by Rev. R W Dinsdale, with burial at Christus Gardens. Survived by Blanche Hiatt Seloner, his wife of 66 years, four children, 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a brother. He lived in Dawson, Buffalo, and Cheyenne counties before settling in Kimball County and Kimball town. He was active in Farm Bureau and school boards and was honored on Farmers Day as Kimball County’s longest married couple.

Soil Moisture Remains Short Across State
Government crop observers report surface soil moisture remains short in most of the state despite last week’s moisture. Benefits were limited as amounts were generally light. Some soil blowing occurred on light soils with weak wheat stands, while open weather aided winter pastures and crop residues for cattle. Livestock producers have conserved hay with about three quarters of counties reporting average or better hay and roughage stocks.

Thirty former Nebraska 4-H members receive Ak-Sar-Ben scholarships to attend the midwinter Nebraska Rural Youth Institute at Beatrice. Jerald Benzel of Sidney and Rosanne Wright of Bridgeport are among the scholars.
