Sidney HI Pupils To Present The Mikado

The Sidney high school chorus and girls glee club with the high school orchestra stage Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado at the U S A theatre on March 28. A full cast, led by Professor Smith, features Nanki Poo, Yum Yum, Ko Ko, Katisha and others with student soloists and a large local chorus and instrumental ensemble.

Plan to Improve Sidney Tourist Park Weighs Costs and Shelter

The Sidney chamber of commerce debated improving the tourist camp grounds with a shelter or pavilion and possible fencing. Barlow Files For Re-Election To County Board

L. R. Barlow filed for county commissioner from the first district on the Republican ticket after years of service. He has missed only two board meetings in eighteen years, with supporters saying he can do more good as a commissioner and he favors tax relief and minimal county expenses.

Bridgeport Child Dragged To Death

Nora Paine seven year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Frank Taine of Bridgeport is killed after a horse she rode home from school runs away. Her foot caught in the stirrup and she is dragged a half mile. Mrs Paine collapses on the road as Walter Kennedy carries her to the house and then to comfort the child. Funeral at Bridgeport Presbyterian Church with burial in Bridgeport cemetery. She leaves two younger siblings.

Narrow escape as plane flies low over Eldmey streets

Dick Evans of North Platte piloted the aircraft with W H McMullan aboard, performing perilous stunts over Eldmey after 6 pm. The plane skimmed rooftops within 20 feet, then struck the air mail field wheel first, breaking an axle. Evans kept the bird grounded on one wheel, stopping 400 yards away. plane to be repaired with a new axle.
