Landowners in Kimball county will vote January 8 on establishing a soil conservation district after support at a December hearing. William Winkleman of Dalton Nebraska died December 23 at age 85 after a long Nebraska life from Worden Germany born 1863. He lived in Washington and Dodge counties before settling on a Dalton farm in 1931. Survived by three daughters Mrs Click Mrs Stoll Mrs Sanders all Dalton and three sons George Clarence Ernest of North Bend plus many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services held at Trinity Lutheran Church Dalton with Rev Ray Bartels. body shipped to North Bend for funeral today.

Car Demolished But Driver Not Injured
Charles Johnson, a police officer at Laramie, Wyoming, escaped serious harm when his car was demolished in an afternoon crash nine miles west of Sidney on Highway No. 30. The sheriff said Johnson’s car skidded 300 feet then leaped thirty feet, and Johnson suffered only bruises and minor cuts. He said a car from the opposite direction crowded him onto the highway shoulder, sending his car out of control and sideways. The machine was heavily damaged, and the sheriff marveled at Johnson’s lack of more serious injuries.

Nebraska State Patrol saved elderly Sidney couple when their car froze in ten below weather. Officers Urban Gay and Mel Busekist located, assisted, and towed the stalled vehicle into Sidney, arranged garage care, and returned the couple to their home. Oil Leasing Expands South Of Kimball In Kenesaw Valley
Extensive leasing of oil rights southeast of Kimball hints at a possible test well soon in the Kenesaw Valley. Fifty seven leases were filed in Logan county at Sterling with Jack Casement A A Smith and Clyde Ward named as trustees. Leases cover land in townships 10 and 11 ranges 53 and 54 west, mainly east of the West Plains site drilled years ago, part of a region surveyed by seismograph work. Separately Carter Oil Company recorded leases totaling about 4 2000 acres in the Willard structure area northwest of the old Willard test well.

William E. Kelso 79 a noted Kimball County farmer died last week. Services were held Thursday with many Cheyenne County friends in attendance. A longtime Methodist member 62 years he was a 32nd degree Mason Shriner and Royal Highlander. He chaired Kimball County War Price and Rationing board in World War II and previously served as deputy sheriff in Cum ing and Merrick counties before moving to Kimball.
