The Cheyenne county ten acre corn club contest for 1924 is finished with data compiled. Prizes from EF L Uptegrove John Deere, Sidney Telegraph, Cheyenne County Trading, and Osborn Motor Co. were awarded across three districts. Fred Slawson funded three life memberships for first prize winners. Drought, grasshoppers and hail reduced husked fields to 13 out of 22 entrants. Continued on Page 12.

A prowler was seen surveying the Weeden residence the Earl Ayle home and Slawson property. He obtained a key and looked through windows leaving tracks in the snow. Dom Costello died after a long illness in Los Angeles last Monday. His remains will be moved to Cheyenne for funeral and burial today, accompanied by his young widow and his brother John who were with him at his death. Sidney Holds Municipal Christmas Tree Celebration
Sidney’s first municipal Christmas tree celebration drew large crowds despite cold weather. The event featured an announcer, a reed-instrument orchestra, and a well delivered address by J. TL. McIntosh. Santa handed out candy and nuts to about 2500 children, with schools and churches holding trees and programs through the week culminating in the Episcopal service.
