Alliance man Roy Ware and companion Carence Overton hunted eight miles east of Chadron. Ware shot a bobcat weighing 42 1/4 pounds with a 22 caliber revolver. The pair also took four sizable raccoons on the trip.

Long Time Kimball Resident Dies at 74
Laura Belle Tebrinke, 74, died at Kimball hospital after a heart attack. A Kimball resident since 1917, she was born February 21, 1882 in Sidney Iowa. She lived in Kansas and Nelson Nebraska before moving to Kimball and was active in community affairs and church groups including the Methodist church Order of the Eastern Star Royal Neighbors of America Past Matrons Club and Pythian Sisters.

Water flooding underway in Enders oil field
2800 to 2900 barrels of water a day are being pumped into the Enders oil field this week as water flood operations begin. Water is injected into three west side wells and will push into central wells to recover more oil, with potential production rising to seven to eight thousand barrels daily once fully active. Rock Hill Oil Co serves as operator with four water wells installed to depths of 1200 to 1540 feet.

Otto Kucera 57 longtime Nebraska educator died Wednesday at Bridgerfort hospital after a career spanning 28 years teaching in central and eastern Nebraska. He led Broadwater for seven years and lived in Tobias where he married Claire Irene Veal in 1927. He belonged to Odd Fellows Tobias Masone Lodge Scottish Rite and Shrine temple Hastings.

Radio and TV efforts in western Nebraska aim to raise at least 2000 to send the Sidney band to the inaugural parade in Washington D C next month. A radiothon on KSID with two talent teams plus Jaycees will run from 7 p.m. and continue as long as needed. A special Navy Recruit Company named the BRONCO'S will be enlisted from the Denver recruiting area on January 23. George Edmondson, Sidney Navy Recruiter, said the company will undergo nine weeks recruit training as a unit at the Naval Training Center in San Diego. The men will receive 14 days leave after training before their first Navy assignment to sea schools ships and stations.
