Burlington Overland Excursions offer rapid comfortable and economical travel to California by tourist sleeping cars leaving Omaha on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Passengers may join at Lincoln Hastings Oxford or any intermediate stop for a through route to San Francisco or Los Angeles via Denver and Salt Lake City with an excursion manager and porter. A 72 page illustrated California booklet is available for six cents in stamps.

Village Board members met last Monday with J J McIntosh as chair and approved instru ction for marshal to close saloons at 11 pm and keep them shut until 5 am on weekdays and Sundays. C M Wright resigned from Health Board. Clerk to draft ordinance for control of epidemics infections and contagious diseases. An ordinance on disease control was introduced and passed to take effect immediately.
Mrs. Ann Eliza Snyder died at her home two miles east of Sidney on Friday December 14 after a year of illness from pneumonia. She leaves two children, Maggie and Henry Snyder, plus siblings in New York and Michigan. Born February 24 1832 in Conquest New York, she married A T Snyder in 1854 and moved to Cheyenne county in 1885. Funeral was Sunday at 2 PM led by Rev Earle with many floral tributes from local groups.
Bert Polley remains in durance in the county jail after being diagnosed with mallpox last Sunday. County Commissioner Rowan leased the old Hebert place two miles northeast of town for a pest house and moved Polley there on Thursday with care from his mother volunteering as nurse. Moses Shutts, Polley’s fellow inmate, shows no sign of infection. he is vaccinated and watched. The jail and court house are fumigated, D. S. Bybee lies convalescing, and strict quarantine continues on the premises until danger passes.

Walter Everedt Walter and Miss Beesie Kelley both of Ashford Nebraska were wed in this city Monday with Rev W L Austin officiating. Attending were Mrs Ed Smith mother of the bride and Mrs Ahrens. The ceremony took place at the Ahrens residence and the couple will reside in Kearney this winter.
Eight mining location certificates were filed this week in the county clerk’s office. The filings cover land in the extreme northeast corner within the Natrona Mining District. Claimants include W. P. Galvin and several McCarthy family members along with Ida Marshall, asserting discovery and location as placer claims and claiming all water and surface ground within the group for the working and benefit thereof.

Wrecks occur as a freight engine derails at a west switch tearing two tracks. brakeman Argue is thrown and escapes with bruises. Kilpatrick Brothers & Collins report a coal bed near Aspen tunnel richer than Rock Springs, prompting Union Pacific plans to mine early next spring and pipe water to drinkers along the Overland route.
