Area businessmen attend OSHA program at local college

Wheatbelt PPM delays rate rise after Tri-State hike

Wheatbelt Public Power District will not raise electric rates before fall 1975 after reviewing operations. A 45 percent price increase from Tri-State last July is being absorbed, with another Tri-State rise likely in 1975. Ca Corcoran notes the delay serves public interest and avoids discouraging productive consumption. Wheatbelt serves farms, industries, and some municipal systems in south-central Panhandle.

Hawse named to group studying local control

Albert Crites, Neil Colerick and Dr. John Hawse were appointed by the Western Nebraska Technical Community College Area board to draft a bill on local control of the college area. The draft will be presented in January after discussions with western Nebraska legislators and area leaders.

Overmeyer to Speak at WMCC Annual Meeting in Alliance

Col Robert Overmeyer the astronaut who highlighted the Golden Link ceremony in Sidney in October will speak at the Western Nebraska United Chambers of Commerce annual meeting in Alliance on January 8. Kemper of Alliance says Overmeyer has accepted the invitation after returning from a U S S R space joint project where the Soyez crews worked with Russian teams in space linking efforts.

Rockefeller begins term as vice president with quiet pledge

Nelson A. Rockefeller starts as vice president by presiding over the Senate and promising to be quiet and helpful to President Ford. He plans a White House meeting with Ford on Saturday to discuss assignments and said he was pleased with the four month confirmation margin of 287 to 128, larger than his New York governorship wins.
