Services For Jeannotte Baby On Tuesday

Services for the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Jeannotte will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday from Gehrig and Son Funeral Home with Very Rev Vincent J. Pelster of St Patrick's Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Anna Jeannette was born Dec 15 and died Dec 17 at Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her parents, three sisters Brenda Lee, Debbie Jean and Rayette Marie and one brother Brett Wayne.

Licenses To Go On Sale January 3 1966

Cheyenne County treasurer Mrs. Mabel Jorgensen says motor license plates go on sale January 3 1966 with windows open 8 am to 4 pm. Plates are crimson on cream for Nebraska Centennial with new number format A 38-1 B 38-1 and reflectorization. One month only in January for mail orders add 50 cents. Passenger car plates cost $9 up 50 cents for reflector charges. Tax amounts info available from County Assessor.

Labor Demand Eases in Sidney Nebraska Novembers

In November the nonagricultural job openings totaled 61, down from October and the prior year. Most demand came from mining, contract construction, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and the federal government. Four-county labor pool held steady at 207 job seekers with 105 women, 32 veterans, 53 under 22, and 52 over 45. Unemployment insurance payouts exceeded 7000 dollars. The Sidney office serves Banner, Cheyenne, Deuel, and Kimball counties.

Postmaster Choice Set On Dec 22 for Sidney Office

Applications for acting postmaster of the Sidney Post Office are invited by C A Story chair of the Cheyenne County Democratic Central Committee. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday December 22. An executive committee meeting and interviews will follow at 7 30 p.m. in the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel Shelter Room. C of C To Make Regular Reports On ’66 Actions

The Chamber of Commerce will issue regular reports in 1965 with space from The Sidney Telegraph and KSID. The Telegraph provides monthly column space while KSID offers time slots at 7 20 a m and 6 15 p m every Tuesday for Ron Mercer to share chamber activities and plans. The aim is broader public understanding of the chamber’s civic work and community promotion.

Judge Crites to retire from Chadron bench

District Judge A W Crites of Chadron who presided over the Sidney police trial in Cheyenne County will retire for compelling personal reasons and enter private law practice with Gordon Shaffer in Chadron. A mixed district committee will submit three names to Gov Morrison to appoint his replacement. There is no mention of injuries or additional details beyond a minor parked car collision with damages totaling 125 dollars.

Public Accommodated During Xmas Week

Stores in Sidney stay open to 9 p m Monday through Thursday and close at 4 30 p m Friday to give employees time for Christmas Eve. Many offices close Friday and the courthouse noon, with city offices locked all day. The Sidney Library also closes all day, Sioux Army Depot mostly closed, Telegraph off Friday. Postoffice hours shift to 5 30 p m Friday then return to 8 a m to 5 p m Tuesday. Postal volume down on letters, packages steady.

Thompsons Celebrate 64 Years of Married Life in Sidney

Sixty four years of marriage were celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. George C. Thompson at their home in Sidney with their children and many relatives in attendance. The couple married December 18 1901 at Weyerts Lutheran Church and survived a blizzard on the way to the ceremony.
