The Clarkson Prize of 150 dollars for the best five acres of corn in Cheyenne county is awarded to Peter Bowser ten miles southwest of Lodge Pole and William Hoppen thirty five miles north of Sidney. The committee recommends an equal division after finding similar yields and quality, with about 210 bushels each on five acres and third entrant Frank Isenberger at 124 bushels. The prize will be shared by Bowser and Hoppen, per committee and Mr Clarkson’s concurrence.

Kimball case ends with not guilty verdict on coal theft
James H Gridley was arrested in Kimball on a coal theft charge from UP railway. Two witnesses proved the theft and he almost confessed, but the jury acquitted him. Gridley then had a pump house guard arrested for trespass and denied land access until further court action. Judge Heist and Eubank served restraining papers to prevent interference with company workers. Also listed are post office letters for Sidney Nebraska ending December 18 1548 for both men and women with names and addressees.
