Thirteenth Year of Panabaker Christmas Display Opens

The Panabaker couple invite the public to their 13th annual outdoor Christmas display from December 18 to January 1 at their Dalton farm. The yard features nativity scenes Santa Claus and his workshop, an organist and three choir boys, lights, a Santa workshop, a sleigh scene, and a village. Proceeds have benefited the Heart Fund, with thousands raised in past years.

Home Damaged By Fire Early This Morning

Sidney firemen were called at 3 50 a m to the Don Kahl home at 1315 Palomino Place. A bedroom fire burned the bed and clothing and caused extensive smoke damage throughout the house. Mrs Kahl and six children were cared for by neighbors while the fire was fought. Mr Kahl was hospitalized in Cheyenne. Damage estimate not available.

Beef Gift Drafts Promoted by Nebraska Beef Council

The Nebraska Beef Council sponsors a Christmas Beef Draft led by president Robert Y. Ross. Drafts come in five dollar denominations and can be issued at any Nebraska bank. Banks are to obtain drafts from the council and may send drafts nationwide to be redeemed for beef at any food store.

Minuteman Jobs Lure Unemployed to Western Nebraska

Unemployment in a four county area includes Sidney and Kimball as nonresident workers flock seeking Minuteman project jobs. Though some hiring occurs, the big push is pending with peak construction expected next summer. Major Carroll cites early layout work and dirt moving to begin soon. Boeing will hire hundreds for assembly and check out, with many trained technicians.

Accused Robber Pleads Not Guilty in County Court

Francis Cooper forty two asked for a prelim inary hearing on armed robbery charges in county court Judge C W Smith will hear the case Friday. Cooper and a second man allegedly held up Pip s Liquor Store on November first 1960. Richard H. Kennedy dodged a deadly hazard when a four foot tire shattered the Buick windshield after breaking loose from a semi trailer on Highway 30 west of Sidney. Kennedy, 50, escaped with minor injuries while damages totaled about 600 dollars.

Dalton Community Chorus to Stage Christmas Program

A 40 voice chorus from Gurley Weyerts and Dalton communities performs Saturday afternoon December 22 in the Dalton School Auditorium. Frontier Air Business Rises Systemwide Despite Sidney Dip

Frontier Airlines reports 91 passengers on Sidney flights in November up from October 79, a 15 percent gain but 6 percent below last year. Nationwide, systemwide Sun liner traffic reached 34 100 in November, a 19 percent rise over the prior year, with Nebraska serving 6 637 passengers, a 39 percent jump. Thanksgiving travel set new daily records, 41 percent higher than the prior 16 year high.

Mrs. Rome Englert Dies at 71 in Lodgepole Funeral Today

Mrs. Rome W. Englert, 71, of Lodgepole, died Friday after a short illness. Funeral services were held today at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. John T. Schmidt presiding. Burial at Pleasant View Cemetery. Craig Mortuary in charge. Survivors include husband Rome W., two daughters, three sons, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two sisters, and a brother.
