Mercy Flight In Vain Botulism Proves Fatal
A midnight mercy flight carrying antitoxin from Denver to Sidney failed when Mrs. Charles Lessman aged 65 died of botulism. The attempt involved an Army C-47, CAA and local officials, with serum rushed from Sidney to Dalton. Despite temporary improvement after the antitoxin, she died about 1 PM Tuesday. The poisoning is believed to have come from home canned vegetables.

Damage Suit to Plaintiff Over Sheep Contract
An eleven member jury awarded the Harry Conley Company of Kansas City $18,000 against Russell Hays of St Angelo Texas. They found Hays breached a contract to deliver 9 000 to 9 500 mixed lambs in good health and good fleece and that including Navajo sheep constituted a rescission. The case rested on whether Navajo sheep are top quality and marketable.

Adolph Adams Dies Suddenly in Colorado Heart Attack
Adolph Adams, about 60, former Sidney resident, died of a heart attack in Loveland Colorado early this week. Graveside services were held at Greenwood Cemetery Thursday. The couple had lived in Sidney for a decade and operated the West Hotel. Surviving are his widow and two sons Roy near Potter and Chester in Kansas. Funeral arrangements were handled by The Craig Mortuary.

District Judge John Kuns ruled for Cheyenne County Clerk I L Pindell in a Security Credit Corporation of Colorado suit. The plaintiff alleged neglect in filing a chattel mortgage lien on a vehicle and claimed a second lien was accepted from another finance company. Judgment sought was 971.80 plus interest. Oil tests yield sixteen million cubic feet gas at Cruise No 1
The Cruise No 1 well produced no oil in three tests this week but logged about 16 million cubic feet of gas per day across tests and a total of 16 million feet. Officials cautioned that one well does not prove capacity and further testing is planned to assess a possible gas field near Sidney Ohio.
