County Judge Gapen's court tries State vs Dr Patty case

The two day trial in Cheyenne County ended with a guilty verdict for Dr M B Patty of Chappell on failing to isolate a patient suspected of an infectious disease. The dispute centered on whether the illness was spinal or cerebrospinal meningitis. The Board of Health viewed it as cerebrospinal meningitis requiring strict quarantine. County Attorney Devoe prosecuted and Pfeiffer defended Patty. Patty received the minimum fine and costs and plans an appeal to district court. The Cheyenne County Board of Health includes Dr H E Mantor J W McDaniel and Dr H L Mantor.

Free Band Concert Set for December 20 in Sidney

A second free band concert is scheduled for December 20 with a full program to appear in the next issue. Both bands deserve credit for progress and the last concert was well attended, promising an even larger crowd this time as enthusiasm builds toward Greater Sidney.

Commissioners formally approve bonds and county actions in 1911 meeting

Cheyenne county Nebraska held December 4 1911 with J B Halston as chairman and voting members approving official bonds for County Treasurer J Fishman Sheriff J W McDaniel and County Judge H E Gapen plus road overseers W Schuler and E C Anderson. Actions include canceling tax on church property lot nine block six Potter, transferring bond fund money to general funds, advertising bids for county printing and a county doctor, approving contracts for court house work and plumbing, declaring a petitioned road a public highway as Road No 194 A, and authorizing warrants from general and other funds for listed claims.

Sidney County Finances Show Broad Expenditures

The county book lists numerous payments including road surveyor fees for ae and spellleation 400 to O Hade and 3550 for pauper cure to George Harvey, hall rent for election 400 to Welch & Armuth, and many bridge and road district expenses.
