Sidney 15 Ready for Big Meeting of the Farmers
Plans are practically complete for the annual meeting of Western Nebraska Organized Agriculture to be held in Sidney Wednesday through Friday this week. More than 500 farmers and stockmen and their families will attend sessions across three days, with programs covering all branches of western Nebraska farm industry. County Agent Willey leads arrangements with speakers and entertainment including a fun feed banquet Thursday night presided by George Jackson, and performances by the Sidney high school orchestra and male quartet.

Twenty four Cheyenne county girls take teacher certificates exam
A class of 24 young ladies from Cheyenne county sat for teachers certificate examinations at the county superintendent's office last Saturday. County Superintendent Gertrude M. Nelson led the exams. Half listed Sidney, Dalton, Gurley, Lodge Pole and Potter as their registered addresses. Most applicants were county normal course students. Rural teachers in the county earn about $100 monthly, from $90 to $110. Names and addresses of the test takers from Dalton, Sidney, Gurley and Lodge Pole were provided.

Sidney council approves light rate cut and fire truck talk
The Sidney city council held its Friday meeting presiding Mayor Rogers with all members present. An ordinance cut electric light discounts from one to two cents per kilowatt hour if paid before the 10th, effectively lowering the rate from 14 to 12 cents. The panel also discussed adding a new fire truck, with Henningson of an Omaha firm presenting payment options and Pagett of Boyer Fire Apparatus detailing a two-ton unit priced around 3,500 dollars plus chassis for roughly 5,200–5,300 dollars. The council decided to study other machines before ordering.

Fire Threat Averted at Duncan Home in Sidney
Firemen saved the Duncan residence at 102 East Sixth Street Sunday night after overheating furnace pipe ignited flames behind the front room walls. Four boarders and Mr. and Mrs. M A Duncan quickly used a garden hose to douse the blaze, preventing extensive damage with water directed through a partition and from the cellar area.

County 4H Champions Named in Cheyenne County
Champions in boys and girls 4H club work for Cheyenne County were announced on the last day of November by a committee including County Superintendent Mrs. Gertrude Nelson, Sidney Schools Superintendent G. F. Liebendorfer, and County Agent L. D. Willey. Dorothy Theis of the Willing Workers Clothing club earned county champion status and a chance at one of eight paid trips to 1928 Boys and Girls Club week in Lincoln. Margaret Boyes of the Herdon Purebred Squealers Pig club won champ in her first year and will compete for one of 18 prize trips offered by the Omaha Union Stockyards Company and Boys and Girls Club week.

Brother of W M Winders Dies in Columbus Auto Accident
George Winders, 50, of Columbus, died after being struck by a car while crossing a street. He was in Sidney frequently, had managed the local store during a trip abroad, and was connected with Smith brothers hardware in Columbus. Burial under Shriners auspices. Winders of Sidney received the sad news and a funeral was planned in Indianapolis. He had long been in the hardware business.

Sidney youth injured when shotgun explodes in cave
George Null 17 and two neighbors were in a dugout cave when a 12 gauge shotgun discharged as the hammer struck a timber. The shell grazed the right side above the hip. Null, slightly numb with a torn shirt, escaped serious injury. Dr. Hugh Mantor treated the wound.
