Junior Miss Contest Sets 300 in Scholarships and Crowns

The Cheyenne County Junior Miss pageant this Sunday at Sidney Junior High School Auditorium will crown a winner and two runners up with total scholarships of 300 and gifts from the Sidney Jaycees. Eight entrants will be honored with charm bracelets from Lockwood Jewelers and compete in evening gown youth fitness interviews and talent.

Supreme Court Rules For Sidney In Gas Rate Case

Nebraska Supreme Court upholds Sidney’s position in a gas rate dispute with Kansas Nebraska Natural Gas Co. The decision affirms municipal rate setting as a legislative act and denies a 25 percent injunction, preserving a 6.7 percent city raise and guarding Sidney from the higher rate. The ruling is 5 to 2 with Justices Newton and dissenters Voslaugh and McGowan.
