Gillham Sets Post Office Xmas Hours

Post Office hours extended starting December 9 with windows open until 6 PM daily. Two Saturdays before Christmas December 14 and 21 will see all day service. Extra truck from Sioux Ordnance Depot and about five helpers planned to speed deliveries. Ferry Dies of Heart Liction in Sidney

Guy Ferry, longtime Sidney resident and painter, collapsed in his car at the corner of 11th Ave and Alinon St around 1 pm. He and wife had been downtown. two doctors and an ambulance responded. He died at Gehrig and Son Funeral Home with arrangements pending. A fuller obituary appears Friday in the Telegraph.

Rites In California For Wim Lamphear 82

Funeral services were held November 18 in Turlock California for William Bad Lamphear 82 a former Sidney resident. He died November 13 in a Turlock hospital after a 25 day illness. He worked as a caretaker at Scorpion Park in Sidney during 12 years as a resident. He and his wife moved to Arizona in spring 1956 and then to Turlock about three months ago. Surviving are his wife a daughter Teena and three sons Chats George and John.

Frank Halsey Dead in Phoenix Heart Attack

Frank Halsey longtime operator of an iron and metal company in Sidney died of a heart attack in Phoenix Sunday. He had been in failing health. Survived by his wife and one son who lives in Phoenix.

Amateur Radio Operators Ready To Help In Emergencies

About thirty Cheyenne County men train under experienced hobbyists to become licensed amateur radio operators. Louis Phillips chairs the Soo Radio Club effort with Tore Strom as vice president and Rod McAdam as secretary. Directors include Bill Highland Dean Hagemeister and Bill Mutter. Fire destroys oil well cleaning unit near Sidney

The Sidney Fire Department answered a morning blaze at a hot oil cleaning unit on the Mather place five miles south of Sidney. Operated by Paul A. Goin for Wytex Oil Co, the unit was a total loss with damage estimated at $3000 by Bob Hossle. Telephoto by Thompson.

Wiegman Lutheran Leader Dies in Ohio Crash

Dr. Wiegman 58 longtime head of the Ohio Synod of the United Lutheran Church died in a collision near Fremont. He previously led Midland College 1939 to 1945 and served pastorates in Nebraska City and Akron. He received honorary degrees from Wittenberg College in 1940 and Midland in 1956.

Chamber Votes Hands Off On Closing Issue

The chamber discussed a proposed city ordinance to regulate business hours with focus on Sunday grocery store closures.
