Army Recruiter Set to Interview Sidney Youth
Sfc Harley E Light, an army recruiter, will visit Sidney on Wednesday September 2 to interview young men for enlistment in the Army for direct assignment to the Army Air Defense Command. He will be at the Selective Service office from 9 30 am to 12 noon and available at the Commercial Hotel in the afternoon and evening. Limited assignments exist and will be filled on a first come, first served basis pending qualification.

Fire Impacts Moving Truck Carrying Furniture
Sidney firemen battled a blaze on a traveling pickup loaded with furniture near 7th and Illinois. The driver continued unaware for miles as about 657 dollars of furniture and 109 dollars of paint damage to the truck were estimated. The furniture belonged to Cabela's Hardware of Chappell and was en route from Chappell to Sidney. Fire officials suggested a cigarette may have started the fire.

Two More Appear On Party Charges In Court
A youth and a girl appeared in Cheyenne County court this morning on charges tied to a party north of Sidney on August 18. Eight youths and four girls previously faced charges last week for the same party. The girls received one year probation and the youths fines and costs. Jerome Koester pleaded guilty to procuring beer for minors and was fined 50 dollars plus costs. One additional minor girl appeared and was sentenced to one year probation for trespass.

Cheyenne County Wheat Growers Assn begins the 1960 membership drive with a kickoff on Tuesday Oct 6 led by president Bernie Herboldsheimer. One Dead Two Ogallalans Hurt In Sterling Mishap
Wesley Reichenberg 33 of Arthur Nebraska died when a westbound car left US 6 east of Sterling Colorado and overturned twice. Three Nebraska men were treated for injuries at Sterling hospital. Reichenberg was a former Arthur County sheriff and Ogallala police officer.

Drunken Driver Tim Simpson Fined and License Suspended
Tim M Simpson, 24, of Sidney, pleaded guilty to drunken driving in Cheyenne County court and was fined 100 dollars by Judge C W Smith. Simpson's license was suspended for six months after an arrest by the State Patrol Sunday evening.
