Farmers urged to check allotments before planting wheat
Everett Peterson of the University of Nebraska Extension warns farmers to verify their conservation reserve contracts before planting 1964 wheat. Contracts require planting within farm acreage allotments or at least 15 acres, otherwise payments and future allotments are at risk. For wheat within 15 acres, planting up to 15 acres preserves payments, while overshooting reduces wheat history and future allotments. Eligible farmers may receive price supports averaging 50 percent of national parity. No marketing quotas or penalties apply in 1964. ASC advised for contract questions.
