In the semi arid region from western Nebraska to Texas farmers plan to sow more wheat after higher acreage gains. Four million more acres have been added in Nebraska Kansas Oklahoma and Texas over four years as combines and power equipment cut costs. A winter crop of 626 million bushels and spring 250 million would yield an export surplus over 250 million, the largest since 1924, while domestic demand remains similar to prewar levels and per capita use declines.
