Blaze leaves family dead after early morning fire
Nine days after a house fire one mile north of Sidney Mrs Pauline Kittleman remains in critical condition at Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital. The blaze killed her husband George and three children, with Mrs Kittleman and a 15 month old twin daughter escaping before flames trapped them. The fire began when Mr Kittleman poured a flammable liquid into an old stove at about 5 am on Aug 19.

A $50 fine was imposed on each charge and his license suspended 30 days.

Farmer Charged With Second Degree Murder In Fence Death
In Keith County Nebraska 35 year old Lemoine Meyer was charged with second degree murder after 15 year old George Schneider was found dead hanging on a barbed electric fence at a farm operated by Meyer and owned by his father Henry Meyer. Meyer pleaded innocent and bond was set at 5000. The incident occurred August 16 as officers said Schneider planned to harvest sweet corn from the fenced field. Sheriff Wayne Elliott and County Attorney Fermin Feltz led the investigation.
