Panhandle Weather With Showers And Cooling Trend
Partly cloudy conditions continue this afternoon and tonight across the Panhandle with scattered showers and thunder showers. Cooler Thursday with lows 40 to 50 and highs in the 70s. Five day outlook shows near normal temperatures through Monday, then a cooling trend late week followed by a warming trend early next week. Highs 75 to 85 and lows 50 to 55 with widely scattered light showers late in the period.

Hank Schnell in Critical Condition After Accident
Henry Hank Schnell remains in critical condition after a gasoline transport overturned and exploded near Rapid City last Thursday. He suffered third degree burns covering over 90 percent of his body and is hospitalized at St. John’s Hospital in Rapid City. The Schnell family are longtime former residents now active in Rapid City trucking.

Elsie M. Chapman aged 86 longtime Cheyenne County resident died Tuesday evening at Rose Arbor Nursing Home in Sterling Colorado after a four week stay. Funeral 2 p.m. Friday at The Craig Mortuary with Rev Harold Fitzwater. burial Greenwood Cemetery. Born March 15 1878 in Potawatomi Iowa to Michael and Anna Garrost. married Richard F. Chapman March 5 1902. Came to Cheyenne County in 1914 and farmed near Gurley until 1951. Survived by daughter Mrs Edward Rihn and four sons Arthur Grant Emerson Richard and a sister Mrs John Bell.

Citizens of Sidney are urged to call the city offices to report street lights that are not burning. City Manager Tom Coffey said the city checks lights every Thursday, but heavy tree growth makes it impossible to find all burned out units.

Farm Home Burned North West Of Lodgepole
A farm home twenty miles northwest of Lodgepole was destroyed by fire late Monday morning. Ray Jessen owned the five room dwelling which housed Mrs Wynona Enovich and her three children who were away when the blaze started. Firemen from Lodgepole and Lisco fought the fire but could not save the building. Contents valued at three thousand dollars were lost and the home at five thousand dollars with no insurance. Cause is believed to be a gas cook stove.
