Sidney sculpture bolts fail prompt road closure
Nebraska roads crews closed the access road to the Sidney I 80 sculpture after bolts broke in the 40 foot aluminum piece. Sculptor Hans Van de Bovenkamp blamed light bolts and wind stress and plans welding reinforcement this fall. The site, near a proposed rest area, will remain closed for public safety.

Fall crops featured at field day in Nebraska

Wife of Utah senator dies in Sunol crash
Hazel Rhae Garn 40, wife of Sen. Edwin Garn, was killed in a one car crash on Interstate 80 near Sunol Nebraska. Three of the couple's four children were passengers. they survived with minor injuries. The accident may have been caused by drowsiness. Rattler Killed After Striking Bicyclist in Sidney
A rattlesnake with nine rattles and a button was killed about 8 40 p.m. Tuesday near 14th and Forrest in Sidney after it bit at Jim Powell as he rode his bike. Powell notified Colin Lindquist who killed the viper.
