Republican County Convention nominates Johnson for chair and Lee for county attorney

The Republican County Convention opened with Henry St. Rayner presiding. J. C. Johnson led on the first ballot for chair with 30 votes to 22 and 16 for Barlow. Johnson won on the second ballot. For county attorney, G. W. Moy er and E. O. Lego competed alongside J. W. Richardson and L. Feltham with the final outcome showing Lee leading after Ballots. The group adjourned to 7 30 for continued votes and later decided to vote directly for the legislature nominees.

Eighth Cavalry Arrives at Lodge Pole En Route to Dakotas

The Eighth Cavalry camped at Lodge Pole and will reach Sidney by noon then move toward Ft Mead and other posts in the Dakotas. Regimental units and officers are assigned to Ft Mead Ft Buford Ft Yates Ft Keogh and Montana stations as part of a summer campaign. headquarters detail lists Mizner Wilcox Bernard OConner Gillmore Eidie with company captains and lieutenants. Local Sidney notes report wives visiting Manitou, leave of absence, transfers and a rifle team contest winners, plus a quiet post with forty four men on roll and Sergeant Major duties held by Private Bigley.
