A free community program on Tuesday August 22 from 5 to 6 30 p m at the fair grounds in Sidney and Cheyenne County will showcase the 28 girl pipe band from Canada the West Kearney Indian Dancers and world champion baton twirler Ken Barrett The troupe travels eight days after a $250 prize helped fund their journey tied to Canada s Centennial stampede The performers range from ages 14 to 18 and include bagpipers drummers highland dancers and majorettes led by instructor Mrs James Gordon Kozmyk The West Kearney dancers perform traditional and modern Indian dances including Spear and shield Sioux scalp and 49 dance The parade will feature marching pipers majorettes and dancers and the show aims to celebrate shared Centennials with Canada The baton twirler Ken Barrett hails from Lincoln and brings a long list of honors including his 1963 world championship

State Centennial Exhibits Arrive Here On Thursday
Nebraska Centennial Exhibits Caravan to visit on Thursday August 17 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Williams Larabee used car lot on east Illinois. Valuations Unchanged by State Board of Equalization

Farmers at NFO session join fight for higher prices
A July survey highlights Nebraska crop prospects with state and federal observers noting good growing conditions. Corn yields near 65 bushels per acre for 1967, down from 79 last year, while winter wheat drops to 25.5 bushels. Sorghum, soybeans, hay, oats and other crops are also forecast with several risks from frost, hail, and disease.

Two Automobiles Recovered In Cheyenne County
Two cars reported stolen in the Sidney area were found soon after. Jim Eddy of Dalton reported his 1956 red and white Chevrolet stolen Monday night. it was recovered north of Dalton stripped of the steering wheel. Orville Golden’s car, stolen at 8 am, was found shortly after at 16th and Forest. Reports note no suspects in Eddy’s case and minor damage noted in other incidents.
