Kansas Draft Horse Team Wins Pulling Contest Here
Kansas draft horses wowed Sidney crowds at the fairgrounds as eight teams contested up to 5300 pounds. Joe Blaine of Eric Kansas led his 3500 pound heavy team to victory, pulling 5628 pounds. Haythorne Land and Cattle Co of Arthur Nebraska entered the winning light team at 3215 pounds with several others placing in heavy and light divisions.

Visitors from Pine Ridge Indian Reservation joined a fair parade near the Indian Village at the west edge of the grounds. In weightlifting style events teams from Haythorne Land and Cattle, Helen Hager Ranch, and Wuehler Brothers Ranch competed in heavy and light classes with cement blocks loaded on sleds, weights escalating as teams strained to pull the load.

Colton Chamber of Commerce Emerges in Stampede Parade
Colton, an unincorporated Colton area near Sidney, formed its own Colton Chamber of Commerce after a Deaver family led drive following their omission from Cheyenne County’s chamber. Miss Colton highlighted the float, with cards labeling the new group unaffiliated. The Deavers invite visitors to observe traffic laws at their Dec. 31 noon meeting.

Fair Stampede To End Tonight In Cheyenne County
The Cheyenne County Fair and 101 Stampede wrap up tonight after a weather rough start. Entry day opened amid mud and rain but clear conditions prevailed for most of the event. Big crowds circulated the grounds. the 4-H calf sale drew strong bidding from Sidney and Cheyenne County residents to support the youngsters.
