The Nebraska state Republican convention chose Judge M L Hayward of Nebraska City to head a ticket described as clean and strong. George A Murphy is Secretary of State with A F Williams as Land Commissioner and N D Jackson as Attorney General. The convention praised harmony and integrity, adopting a gold standard platform.
London reports a Madrid cabinet meeting to decide on Spain signing the U S protocol. The scene includes Horticultural Hall, Montgom ery Ward displays, a takedown of the Japanese Tea Garden, and the lively Midway atmosphere ending with East Midway’s many attractions.
Mrs Rebecca McCormick wife of J B McCormick store keeper and postmaster at Bronson and later Bertrand Neb died in Denver Colo while seeking health. Clara M Hooper Denver wrote a tribute praising her as brave faithful loving and Christian noting she brought joy to others with a cheerful spirit and devoted life. Her death leaves a lasting impact on family friends and community.

L M Meyer and brother George went to Sidney last Saturday. Two dogs killed two bulls at Johnsons ranch last week. Sandersons, Mr and Mrs FPBP Sanderson, returned recently. Clayton Radcliff guest of Remsberg brothers last week. Kelly says he plans to open a bank out west. Funeral notices later.
County Clerk Bullock filed the State Bureau of Labor and Industrial Statutes report showing 18 farm mortgages filed totaling 10,892 and 19 paid off totaling 5,062. One town mortgage filed 650 with six paid off 1,738. 171 chattel mortgages filed 193,738 with 114 paid off 70,960. April had more paid off than filed by 833,572 vs 631,632.
County clerk records show July activity: two farm mortgages filed totaling 2 150 dollars, one mortgage paid off for 5 000 dollars. No town or city mortgages filed. three town mortgages paid off totaling 1 180 dollars. Eighteen chattel mortgages filed totaling 23 553 dollars, fourteen paid off amounting to 12 759 dollars.
