Sidney elderly housing bid opens with higher than hoped totals

The Sidney Housing Authority faces delays as bids for a 40 unit elderly apartments project come in about 10 percent above the $645000 estimate. The apparent low bid is from Don Rice Construction of Bayard at 654600 with another bid 708300 from Cillessen Construction.

Sidney Board Faces Two Big Budget Decisions This Week

The Sidney Board of Education meets Monday at 7:45 pm to decide how much to tap the cash reserve for the 1976-77 budget and whether to start a sinking fund. If reserves aren’t used, $1.443 million in local taxes would be needed, up from this year.

Sidney permits pass $1 million in a year

City records show Sidney building permits totaled 1 053 194 so far this year with July alone at 344 931. Inspector Dean Starr notes the July figure includes a 288 670 church sanctuary addition and a 36 000 residence at 2227 Newton by B and B Construction.

Egging Co plans expansion to meet strong product demand

The Egging Co southeast of Gurley aims to boost production with 0 to 40 new workers this fall to double staff. Growth stems from solid demand for three new products roll bars for Caterpillar cabs for Fiat-Allis bulldozers and a sugar beet harvester. The firm now employs about 85 and builds 18 Caterpillar roll bars monthly.

Cheyenne County Levy Shrinks to 49 Mills for 1976 77

The Cheyenne County budget shows a 0.49 mill increase to 1 392 mills to fund a larger road fund cash reserve and emergency needs while a lower road fund expenditure is projected. The budget calls for local taxes of about 845 875 14 with ambulance and library levies rising modestly, and a public hearing set at the Cheyenne County Courthouse.
