Rescue Efforts Underway After 1962 Canyon Flood
National Guardsmen sheriff's deputies and search teams conduct airlifted rescues and ground evacuations in a canyon after heavy rain and floodwaters. Sidney firemen win tourney and keep practice with runs
The Sidney Volunteer Firemen captured the North Platte Valley Firemen's Association Water Tournament title on Sunday and used nearby fires for practice. They scored 11 pots, placed second in the 50-foot event, and Dalton finished second overall with nine points. Sidney had runs Friday and early today including a grass fire west of Brownson and a dramatic oil tank battery blaze four miles north of Sidney.
