The fifth annual Miss It, Sidney pageant at the Junior High School auditorium Saturday at eight. Twelve contestants will vie for the 1965 queen title with a tea for candidates at two at Ft. Sidney Motor Hotel. Sponsored by the Sidney Junior Chamber of Commerce and local businesses and organizations.

Record Chuck Wagon Dinner Draws 675 at Elks Auditorium
A record-breaking crowd of 675 attended the annual Chuck Wagon Dinner at the Elks Auditorium hosted by the Sidney Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. Dave Livingston of Washington, Iowa, the main speaker, shared world travels and missionary work while noting the role of missionaries in teaching self-reliance. Bob Decker led as master of ceremonies with musical numbers by the Lady Beatles Trio.

Roy MacAdam is re-elected president of the Cheyenne County Historical Association at the annual meeting held at the Fort Sidney Motor Hotel. Clark Fuller becomes vice president and G. F. Bush named secretary-treasurer, succeeding Gordon Reed. The Fort Sidney Colonels gave a short program of western songs and Dr. James Thayer spoke on his research into the Western Panhandle history, hinting at a musical to premier before Nebraska’s Centennial Year in 1967.

Conservation Tour To Be Wednesday May 5
A soil conservation tour is scheduled for next Wednesday May 5 at 1 29 p m starting from the ASCS office in Cheyenne County. Three Hurt In Upset On Prom Run At St Patrick’s
Three St Patrick’s Academy students were injured Thursday morning when their 1956 Chevrolet pickup, used to collect prom items, overturned after failing to turn onto Sky Man or Road on 16th Avenue. Louis Egging, 17, Gurley, suffered back injuries. Timothy Colling, 16, driver, and Jim Hart, 17, Sidney, were treated and released. Heavy damage reported. no pole damage. In a separate incident, Lawrence M. Robinson was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a 7:40 p.m. crash at 11th and Spruce involving a 1960 Buick, about $100 damage. Case sent to county court.

ASCS Applies Summer Hours At Office
ASCS announces summer hours starting Monday May 3 with a schedule of 7 to 12 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. through August 27. After that the office returns to the standard 8 to 12 a.m. and 1 to 5 p.m. order.
Farmers Union backs income tax and depot programs
The District I Farmers Union endorsed the state group on several legislature issues at its spring Sidney meeting. It supports a state income tax and opposes a state sales tax or tax combo while opposing a limited spending bill. Elton Berck of Omaha urged government cost control and advocated funding for a trade school at Sioux Army Depot and an agricultural research center for the High Plains Nebraska.
