Herman Springer was brought from Crawford by Sheriff Mc Daniel to face trial on obtaining money by fake pretenses after O. D. Bryant of Council Bluffs paid $500 to Springer for a quarter section of land and received no title. Springer cannot bond. Mrs. Springer remains by her husband. the couple lived here two years and moved to Harrison, Nebraska last fall.
Tomorrow at 2 30 the Sam Fine Home Guarders meet the Bushes on the park diamond. The Bushes feature a mix of ready talent while the Home Guards defend the home front with grit. Admission is ten cents.
A box car at the Burlington caught fire last Saturday due to a stove fire left by tramps who had used the car for a meal. Agent Shipman sustained a burn on his hand as a souvenir of the incident. The blaze threatened other railroad property before the car was consumed.
The T N s club met Wednesday afternoon with Mrs W R Pate. All members except Mrs Fishman attended in Denver. An old fashioned luncheon accompanied a fashionable gathering. The event marked Mrs Pate's final club entertainment before her move to Alliance.

The resignation of Carl Vinson as marshal was accepted and the new board was elected organized and sworn in with E W Ziebert as chairman R A Barlow treasurer and Leslie Neubauer clerk. A crowd gathered last Saturday night as Jack Johnson passed through, peering from a train window and chatting with fans. His trainer and wife Mrs Johnson accompanied him, while he continued to California to train for the July 4th showdown with Jeffries.

Sunday the Home Guards led by Sam Finn lost to the Dalton Seconds 13 to 6. Closman and Dewey pitched for the winners as the Guards fumbled renderable plays and failed to hit. The crowd laughed at the misplays while Sam Finn organized the team for Knodle and remained two dollars and a half in the hole.
