Bond Issue Election Is May Third
The 33 thousand dollar school bond election in Sidney on May third aims to enlarge the overcrowded north side building. If approved, bonds of 33600 dated June 1 1949 will finance additions and furniture with principal due 1982 1953 1954 at 2.25 percent interest. A special levy by valuation will be assessed to cover interest and principal. Only legal voters in school district one may vote at Northside school city auditorium or Eastside school. An unusually large northside vote is expected.

Rites for Ray Albert Tobler age 50 are set for Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Henry Monnich officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under Gehrig Funeral Home direction. Tobler, born February 27, 1809 in Arlington Nebraska, lived in Sidney 30 years, married Hattie Spiker in 1936, active in Veterans of Foreign Wars and a World War II veteran. survivors include widow, daughter Yvonne Harrison, son Corwin Tobler, two brothers Roy and Lawrence, and four sisters Roma Willis Fern White Cleo Swenson Blanche Swenson.

Choice Is Made For Girls State Representative Named
Miss Clairelyn Lyngholm is chosen as representative to Girls State by the Sidney Business and Professional Women's club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Wayne Willard was named Boys State representative sponsored by the Sidney Rotary and Lions clubs. The two Sidney High School juniors will attend Boys and Girls State activities in Lincoln from June 4 to 11, selected from a list of outstanding juniors by the sponsoring groups.

Bond Issue Won’t Raise Taxes, Weymouth States
Sidney school district Superintendent O J Weymouth told The Telegraph that approval of a 33 thousand dollar bond next Tuesday would not increase taxes. The district has 26 thousand in outstanding bonds retiring in 1949 and 1950. The new 33 thousand would be paid off in three years and not affect operations.

Scout Leaders To Be Honored At May Meeting
About 15 scout leaders will receive certificates for completing the Boy Scout Leader Training course, announced Harald Wooten, Wye- Braska council training chairman. Awards will be handed at the Cheyenne district committee’s outdoor May 17 meeting at Vergal Winn home. Next Thursday night, 20 cub scout leaders are expected to complete the cub leader training, per Mr. Wooten. Six of the 15 receiving certificates will be scout masters and five will be assistant scout masters. Attendance at weekly meetings averaged 20, with 18 men attending three or more sessions. A Dalton camp event last weekend saw two Tenderfoot ranks awarded to William Rayl Godfrey Loper of Troop 90 in Sidney and Roger Millward of Troop 89 led by Jack Baker. Thirty-two boys and 15 men participated in the camp.

County Attorney L M Clinton told the county board that 1948 tax assessments in Sidney were invalid due to lack of adequate notice. Adjustments to 1947 valuations may be required for many parcels, with forms being prepared for petitions to the commissioners. Dalton Doctor Pankau Celebrated For 20 Years Of Service
All of Dalton closed Tuesday to honor Dr J B Pankau and his wife Mrs Pankau with a 2 to 4 pm program at the Dalton schoolhouse and a reception. Dr R E Roche from Sidney covered practice, and Mrs Valentine Dugger assisted nurses at Dalton Hospital so they could attend. Mayor Ralph Scherer chaired the program with band numbers, readings, letters from Dr Pankau’s son, and a piano piece. An album with 517 photos of 1,160 babies he delivered over 20 years was presented amid praise for his skill and service.

J C Chet Swinbank of the Nebraska Grain Improvement Association warned farmers Thursday that some seed outfits are inflating prices for wheat seed ahead of fall planting.
