County Bank Deposits Reach Thirteen Million Dollars
The county's four Cheyenne County banks hold about 13 million dollars in deposits with two thirds in the Sidney bank. High wheat prices and last year's marketing drive surge deposits as farmers convert grain to cash. The 1933 Lodgepole bank showed 88 thousand. by April 1 this year deposits reached 1.8 million, over 80 percent from agriculture. Prospects for another big crop remain strong as conditions favor wheat and storage concerns ease.

Stolen Model A Ford Recovered by Owner in Great Falls
Edward Bucke of Great Falls Montana claimed yesterday that his stolen Model A Ford had been recovered. The car was found abandoned on the north side and had been unnoticed for several days. Sheriff Schulz and City Patrolman Sol Willis observed the vehicle before Bucke established ownership and drove it back to Great Falls on Monday.

Denver man Chester James settled long standing counts of reckless driving and failing to appear in court by paying fines of 25 and 10 dollars. State Patrolman Revert Nichols had issued the initial reckless driving ticket on April 4, 1946, after James failed to appear on April 8. Prominent Peetz Resident Mrs Lindsay Dies at 59
Mrs. Harry Lindsay, a longtime Peetz area resident who homesteaded with her husband in 1910, died of a cerebral hemorrhage last Tuesday. Funeral services were held in Sterling and burial was at Peetz. She taught in Logan County rural schools for years and is survived by her husband, one son, and numerous relatives.

Foley Pays Fines for Three Traffic Counts in County Court
Carl C. Foley of Bridgeport faced three fines in county court after a Monday morning hearing. State Patrolman Nichols called Foley’s highway behavior one of the most flagrant speeding and reckless driving cases he had seen. Judge Robert A. Barlow fined Foley ten dollars and costs on stop sign violation, reckless driving, and speeding. Foley spent Sunday night in jail.

Sidney Boy Injured By Accidental Shot
Robert Glaubitz, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Glaubitz, is hospitalized with a bullet wound in the groin and leg from an accidental shooting last Saturday. Dr. B H Grimm said his condition is favorable but he will stay in the hospital a few days. The bay was loading a pistol with the barrel toward himself when it discharged during a hike in the country club region. He was taken to Henry Minshall home for medical aid. The bullet struck the thigh bone, shattered into pieces, and extraction was impossible, narrowly missing an artery.

Camel fossil found near Pine Bluffs Wyoming untouched by time
A jawbone and two shoulder blades of an alticamelus camel, dating about 20 000 years, were uncovered in gravel pits on the Wilkinson ranch north of Pine Bluffs Wyoming. Elmer Harvey, Pine Bluffs, identifies the species as alticamelus, extinct alongside mastodons mammoths and Folsom animals. The animal was roughly the size of a saddle horse.

Mrs J C Swatzlander 73 died Saturday at her daughter Mrs Clayton Radcliffe home in Sidney after weeks of critical illness. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 30 pm at the Radcliffe residence with Rev Howard Osborne of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment in Sidney cemetery. Survived by four children, Mrs Radcliffe Sidney Hubert Pueblo Kenneth Medford Justin San Bernardino, four granddaughters, two sisters and one brother. Dr Swatzlander died in 1938 and is buried in California.

U P Streamliner To Go On Daily Service
The Union Pacific will inaugurate daily streamliner service between Chicago and Los Angeles on May 14. President G F Ashby announced a faster 39.75 hour schedule with departures east and west, offering seven and a quarter hours quicker travel than any train currently in daily operation. The City of San Francisco remains the only thrice weekly service.
