Lost Plane Located In Two Hours by CAP Team
A statewide Civil Air Patrol search Sunday located a planted wreck two and a half miles north of Julesburg. Pilot Gene Schmidt and observers Allen Karnik and R. L. Baker of Sidney spotted the wreck at 12:33 after takeoff at 10:16, then guided ground crews to the scene. The mission capped a two day CAP assembly with 89 senior members, 41 cadets and 30 aircraft, plus four non CAP pilots. The event featured a Sidney Chamber of Commerce breakfast and a precision cadet drill, with 39 hours of flying logged. Authorities from multiple units and four mobile radio teams supported the exercise.

New Smoky Blue Fire Truck Joins Sidney Rural District
The Sidney Rural Fire District No 1 added a 600 gallon smoky blue fire truck with a Midship motor and two way radio linked to Sidney police HQ. It improves speed and water capacity over the old unit, costs about $12,000 funded by the rural district, and is crewed by the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department. Officers include Walter Johnson, Ed Blank, Bill Fleming, Richard Brauer, and Ed Mohatt.

Mrs Will Burleson Died in Mexico City
Mrs Will Burleson a former Sid ney resident died Thursday in the British American Hospital Mexico City after surgery on April 3. She was 36 and survived by husband Monta and two sons Lynn and Will, plus parents Ernest Harber and wife and a sister. Cremation followed services in Mexico City and ashes to be sent to the United States.

Roy Spicknall Dies After Long Illness
Services will be held Thursday for Roy W. Spicknall 56 a well known farmer of the Sidney Draw who died Sunday after a monthlong hospitalization. He was born August 24, 1897 and lived south of Sidney his entire life. Surviving are a brother and sister in Sidney and several nieces and nephews. Memorials to Cheyenne County Hospital Fund.

Three New Wells Boost Cheyenne County Oil Output
Over the weekend Cheyenne County oil fields saw three new wells brought in with notable Doran Farms and Fleming pool extensions. The No. 5 Mohatt in Doran Farms showed a 1840 barrel oil and 500 feet water drill stem test in the J sand, while Sparks 1-B extended the Clarence Dorman area with multiple tests. Ohio Oil Co also reported strong results from Fleming No. 6, Lobb No. Y, and other wells, plus a first production test of No. 1 O’Connell west of Lorenzo yielding 55 barrels in 20 hours.

Man Gets Fine After Accident
Roy Howerter of Lodgepole, 59, was fined 10 dollars plus costs in County Court for failure to yield at an intersection of Highway 30 and a Lodgepole street after a collision. Howerter’s 1952 Chevrolet and Donald Gillham’s 1953 Nash sustained 250 and 400 dollars in damage respectively. Nebraska Safety Patrol investigated.
