A small area about 10 miles west of Bridgeport and south of the North Platte river saw heavy hail early Sunday. The storm lasted around 20 minutes and halted Oregon Trail motorists. McGrew and Melbeta farmers counted about half an inch of rain in the afternoon and evening, Bridgeport got .19 inches, Bayard had a light shower.

Sterling Colorado voters rejected a municipal ownership proposal to acquire a power plant and distribution system by a two to one margin. Unofficial returns: 1,179 against and 568 for, with 1,750 of 2,350 taxpayers voting after a campaign.
