County Commissioners On Road Petitions and Vacations

The Board of County Commissioners of Sidney Nebraska met April 20 1903 to audit and approve claims for bridge road and general funds. They authorized repairs fences road work and pauper care. approved bonds for road and justice officials. granted refunds on district taxes. reallocated personal property taxes. and established a public road from Camp Clarke bridge to near Court House Rock while vacating Road No 32A. Minutes note adjournment sine die and appointments of road overseer constable and justice of the peace.

Railroad News From The UP Era

Trainmaster Cox visited Cheyenne while Bridgeport roadmaster Bowen was in town. About sixty Italians arrived to work on the Lawton road bed and several UP staffers, including J B Sandowski and Leon Urbach, assumed new roles. UP ran record fruit trains Cheyenne to Omaha. No. 2 covered Cheyenne to Sidney in 1038 minutes. Minor injuries to Wm Schimpf and L J Taylor. Union Pacific to audit trainmen’s rules and health. inspector car to test vision and hearing led by Dr. H Percy Jensen.
