Serbia Gains Independence From Ottoman Rule
The Servians endured four centuries under Turkish authority with relatively lighter oppression than local lords, until a revival of national spirit led by Kara George in 1804 sparked a long war. After multiple uprisings and a 1820 firman recognizing Milosch as prince, Serbia attained virtual independence with a constitutional monarchy and a 4000-strong army. Revenue and governance align with modern parliamentary practice, modeled on England, as described by George J. Towle in Harper's Magazine.

Pasturing Meadows Productivity Claims Examined
J Wooley argues in the Ohio Farmer that pasturing meadows boosts yield when timed properly and not overdone. He cites failures of spring and after harvest grazing and recalls a case where heavy grazing preceded a strong following crop, attributing success to reduced worm damage aided by wildlife and soil condition.
