Voters in Gurley district approved 196000 in bonds to build a new high school with auditorium and gym. Final tally 74 for and 29 against. Superintendent John Metlen said construction will start this summer at a Gurley site under architect Frank McNett. The facility will include brick construction, classrooms, lunch room, shop and science rooms, library, stage, kitchen and home economics, meeting a long standing need with enrollment of 48 high school and 85 grades.

Lodgepole Man Killed By Train
An elderly Lodgepole resident William Schroll was struck and killed by Union Pacific train No. 5 at a crossing near the Lodgepole depot around 4 39 p m. He was 35 turning 36 and was apparently walking toward town when he misjudged the train’s speed. Sheriff W W Schulz said the victim tried to beat the train and died at the scene. The Craig Mortuary is handling arrangements.
