State Grant To Chappell For Outdoor Recreation Facilities
Nebraska will receive a 33550 grant from the Land and Water Conservation Fund to expand outdoor recreation facilities in Chappell. A 289 acre parcel at the Chappell Interchange on Interstate 80 will be acquired for a regional park with a federal match possible. R L Smith, mayor of Chappell, will direct the project under the Nebraska Game Forestation and Parks Commission and A Heaton Underhill announced the plans. The fund supports planning acquisition and development of outdoor recreation lands and facilities nationwide.

Tire Crash Injures Two Lodgepole Women
A 1961 Chevrolet driven by Mrs. Grace E. Teague of Lodgepole rolled after a tire blew Friday at 6:50 p.m. on Highway 30 six miles west of Sidney. Passenger Mrs. Pearl Nelson, also of Lodgepole, escaped injury. car damage estimated at $300. Officer Trooper Max Ibach of the Highway Safety Patrol investigated.

Former Sidney attorney Joel E. Babcock has been promoted to Regional Claim Superintendent for Employers Group Insurance Companies of Boston. He will head the Regional Claim Office in Omaha overseeing all claims in Iowa and Nebraska, succeeding Francis L. Sorensen who retired after 25 years.

The Sidney Livestock Sales Pavilion saw a strong market for stocker cattle and butcher hogs on Saturday. Lightweight steer calves sold 29.50 to 31 per cwt with 500-550 lb steers 28.15 to 29, 642 lb steers 26.10, and 725 lb steers 24.40. Heifer calves 25.60 to 28, cows 15.70 to 17, shelly canners 13.10 to 13.80, and baby calves 25 to 45 a head. Hog top was 17.35 for 34 head of 213 lb. 200-230 lb hogs 16 to 16.75. underweights 14 to 16. heavy sows 14.60 to 14.80. 600 lb hogs 14.15. feeder pigs 9.25 to 14.50 per head.
