The report from J. Webster at the North Platte Experimental Sub-Station notes generally good conditions in southern Panhandle and Kimball but warns that normal spring moisture is needed for a crop. In Cheyenne and Deuel counties stands are good with ground cover already present. Soil sampling has begun and by April 6 moisture below six inches on cropped land was scarce, with deeper moisture only in fallow down to about three feet due to drought.
