First Auto in Sidney Streets and Local Lore
A reminiscence recalls the first automobile seen in Sidney, considered by elders as once owned by Dr Beebe. It describes a barouche top car with high wheels, brass decor, side crank, lever steering, and two seats, seen at a lumber yard once run by A R Le Sueuer. The piece also recalls Gypsy canyon, Dead Man's gulch, Lady Nicotine in a cave, and early Sidney Telegraph offices, plus the first county fair plane exhibition with straight flying.
