Western Nebraska high school music contest returns to Sidney on April 27 with larger expected crowds. Local housing may be stretched as visitors from other towns plan to enter. Last year Sidney relied on school children and families for lodging. volunteers may be asked again to help. Attendance could reach 500 to 600 attendees or more.

Funeral Service for W A Klein Largely Attended
The funeral service for Vaclav A Klein was held at St Patrick's Catholic church with solemn high mass led by Monsignor Klein. Knights of Columbus and Sidney volunteer fire department attended, followed by burial at the Catholic cemetery. Klein, born 1861 in Bohemia, died April 2 1928 in Omaha after a long Cheyenne county life marked by mercantile work and farming. He left two children, Ethel and Clara, from his first marriage to Flora Sherer, and his second wife was Amelia Doyle. He was a prominent Cheyenne county citizen active in local development.

Infant Lenzen Dies After Brief Life Near Sidney
Wright's funeral home reports the death of an infant born Tuesday afternoon to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lenzen who resided about seven miles southeast of Sidney. The mother suffered pneumonia at birth. the infant lived only minutes and was buried at the Catholic cemetery. A later report states Mrs Lenzen died as well and funeral services are set for Saturday at the Catholic church.

Council Bluffs youths arrested in Sidney for stolen car
Two boys from Council Bluffs, Duane Poore and Chester Griffith, 18 and 17, were held in Sidney after being found in a stolen Chevrolet coupe at 12 45 p m Tuesday. They admitted taking the car after buying gas in Chappell and refusing to pay. The vehicle, Nebraska license 5 2357, was reported stolen from Fremont. The youths claimed different westward destinations and were being returned to Fremont to face theft charges. Poore has a brother serving ten years for auto theft in an Iowa penitentiary.
