Jennifer Simmerman, a Sidney High School junior, was announced as the 1975 Girls State representative with Wendy Patten named alternate. A committee from the American Legion Auxiliary selected the finalists from eligible juniors with B averages after teacher voting.
Sidney Senior and Junior High School students prepare an anthology of original Life themed pieces for Fine Arts Week. Tau Sigma English Club members will arrange poems prose essays and stories and sell booklets to the public with drawings to accompany the writings. Students may talk to English teachers or Cindy Meissner Tau Sigma president before April 25.
The pep club selections were announced after Tuesday tryouts on April 9 for the 1975 76 season. Varsity cheerleaders are Penny Christy Denise Hare Susan Hendee Karen Kuhns Jane Matzke and Pam Wamsley. JV cheerleaders are Holly Atkins Cathy Bayne Nancy Hazlitt and Paula Kelley.
Journalism instructor Terry Meisenbach announced Hi Life editors for next year. Hi Life will have Susan Hendee as Editor, Sam Cunningham as Co editor, Jeff Peetz as Sports editor, and Jane Matzke as Photography editor. Trail will name Mark Johnson as Editor, Loren Steffens as Co editor, and Scott Hinrichs as Photography editor. Selections were based on applications with GPAs and activities and assessment of current Journalism I work and potential.
Sidney High elects Mark Green as cheerleader captain after voting by S Club and Pep Club with town judge adaptation. New squad to attend June Lincoln clinic. Pam Johnson notes criteria clarity and removal of popularity bias. Mark also crowned chess champion after beating Alan Nicholson in a best two of three under Student Council event.
