Reminiscence of Paoli Area Pony Express Station Remnant
In a letter to the editor dated March 16 1969 a Nebraska native recalls family moves in 1888 to a timber claim north of Paoli Colorado then back to Custer County Nebraska. He describes a large sod house well and sod stable near an old Pony Express station southeast of Julesburg and a remount station with extra horses. He notes disappearance of the house, a born 1887 Arcadia Nebraska, and mentions Ansley and the Oliver Brothers operation. He reflects on Nebraska history largely unwritten and fading.
