A seven member committee of Nebraska health and hospital leaders will tour the state for four days starting in Lincoln to assess general hospital conditions. They will visit Geneva Orleans Stratton Benkelman Imperial Sidney Dalton Oshkosh Lewellen Gothenburg and Aurora, with a Sidney stop expected late Wednesday. The Cheyenne County Memorial Hospital board will hold its regular meeting Wednesday so visitors can attend and dine at the hospital.

Inquest Slated For County First Auto Fatality Of 1956
County Attorney Pat Heaton said an inquest would be held this week into the Saturday night death of William C. Earnhart a 28 year old Lodgepole resident. Earnhart was a front seat passenger in a 1953 convertible driven by Kenneth Oaken of Lodgepole. The car went off the road near the junction of two county roads eight miles northeast of Sidney. Two passengers Gladys Oaken 15 and Joyce Rogers 16 were thrown from the car. Rogers remained hospitalized with possible broken back and internal injuries. Oaken and his sister were released. The car suffered about 600 dollars in damage. Earnhart a 1949 Lodgepole High School graduate and Navy veteran died from a severe skull fracture. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at Lodgepole Methodist Church with burial in Chappell. Zimmer Funeral Home of Chappell in charge. The death is the county’s first automobile fatality of 1956. Earnhart was farming with his father at the time of death.
