Supreme court upholds limits on house to house solicitors
Five judges of the supreme court ruled Geneva's house to house merchandise soliciting ordinance void as a nuisance. The majority said soliciting orders at private homes is not in itself illegal and must be reasonably related to public safety and welfare. Judge Messmore dissented on some points, noting high pressure tactics can be a nuisance and homeowners should be protected.
