Patriotism Parade Set For Saturday Meeting

For the patriotic anniversary meet ing tomorrow there will be a parade demonstration featuring the band home guards Red Cross Liberty Loan committee Sammy Girls Boy Scouts and school pupils under local officials. Members are urged to wear uniforms aprons badges or buttons as directed with parade forming in front of the opera house.

Anniversary Rally in Sidney at Tobin Opera House

In celebration of the first anniversary of entering the war the public will gather in Sidney at the Tobin opera house at two o'clock on Saturday afternoon for a patriotic program. Speaking by prominent men and music will comprise the event. Mrs. M. Andrews returned Thursday from Omaha where she has been for medical treatment. She is improving. Dr. W. A. Liberty Meeting Plans Third Liberty Loan Drive

A county gathering at the U S A theatre on Tuesday April 2 discussed launching the Third Liberty Loan drive from April 6 to May 6. County Chairman Rob Barlow and speakers from the Farmers Union and Four Minute Men outlined publicity, logistics, and enforcement strategies to secure subscriptions and boost patriotism.

County rally aims to meet Liberty Loan quota

In Cheretne County the third Liberty Loan quota of 245700 dollars had not been reached at the time of a meeting but was later reported as needing to be raised. Local donations for the Red Cross and refugee aid are mentioned as priorities alongside the county goal.

Sidney Debates Bayard Tonight at Bligh School

Debating team Zella Owens Belle Stafford and Viola Walker will affirm the resolution on compulsory military training in high schools, facing Bayard with Miss Vankermen leading the denial. Admission is 25 cents. The Sidney schools close next week for teacher meetings in Scottsbluff. Miss Schulte announced Sidney will offer French for the first time, aiming to replace German.

Women To Have Big Work To Do In Food Campaign

Mrs Tan Kivett, state worker on the Food Production campaign, spoke in Sidney last Friday to earnest women and helped form a Woman's branch of the Council of Defense. An executive committee was appointed with Mrs. W. OB Payzant as Chairman, Mrs. CE Osborn as Vice-Chairman, Mrs. J. W. Barker as Secretary, and Miss Wooldridge as Treasurer. The committee will appoint two auditors later. The Talk emphasized immediate action on the food proposition for overseas allies.

McMillan Costello wedding at St Patrick’s church

Clyde H. McMillan and Margaret Costello of this city were united in marriage at St Patrick’s church on Tuesday morning with Rev Father Keyser officiating due to Rev Father Link’s illness. McMillan works at Burlington station. Costello is Mrs M Costello’s daughter, described as an accomplished young woman. The couple’s supporters wish them happiness in their life together.

Informal meeting forms Liberty Loan support group

An informal meeting of the Liberty Loan Committee in the county discussed raising 3 000 000 000 for the government with gilt edged 4 percent securities. Local speakers urged speeding supplies for the Allies and forming a paid county Secretary for patriotic work with a rally planned for April 6 at the opera house.

Telegraph Introduces New Linotype and Upgrades

The Telegraph installed a Model 14 Linotype by W. Wildy, replacing the old Model 10 to handle expanded advertising and job work. The shop also added two stones and a new cabinet of faces. Dr Zwink underwent tonsil and ear surgery in Cheyenne and is recovering well. Emil Nelson arrives from Denmark to join Viggo Nelson in painting and decorating.
